In “hidden”, I explore feelings of anxiety, alienation and vulnerability. These are very young feelings that can arise and blindside us when we think we are well past them. We have all had the experience of feeling like an outsider. What parts of our deepest selves do we show and thereby leave vulnerable? To what extent do we perform or impersonate in order to protect ourselves or to attempt connection with others? How do we decide with whom and to what extent we let the mask slip?

On Process:
These mixed media pieces combine monotype printmaking with collage, pencil and acrylic paint. This is the first work in which I have experimented with using AI to generate photos that I use as drawing references for my figures. I have been very specific in what I want to see in the images generated, and have used the photographs as starting points for the figurative aspects of the work
