Dreams are stories that we tell ourselves. In those stories we navigate within the world of Dream Logic, where transformation and abrupt transition are common, and the rules of physical reality and cultural norms are suspended. Our subconscious minds spin out narratives that go to places our logical minds may not.
When we wake up, we tell ourselves the tale again. In this telling though, the story is already beginning to fade, and we struggle to recall the details, to relive the feelings provoked.
This work, “Dream & Recollection” consists of a stop-motion animation of a dream, and a series of mixed media pieces that attempt to retrieve and reconstruct the narrative before it fades away.
